The guild has an amazing study group called Fledglings that was initiated to provide mentoring
for new weavers, many of whom had taken or were taking classes with our expert teachers. For
our current exhibit, the study-group members have contributed an array of weavings that
indicate how they have pursued this craft recently. Some of the items are “studies” or samplers.
There are some color wrappings that were done prior to beginning a project. There are scarves
and shawls, towels and table runners, gamps and garments. There is even a rug with its two
“sisters”!
For each item, the weaver was invited to explain what she learned in the process of making it.
Please take some time to give this show a careful look, and then congratulate the
participants—whether novice or experienced—on their skills and creativity.
