Study Groups are the backbone of the guild. Members with common fiber art interests form their own small groups for in depth study, mentoring, sharing and social purposes. Study Groups are free to members and welcome guests to come check out the guild.
All meetings are held at the Guild House, unless otherwise noted. A few of our groups offer a hybrid option with some members at the Guild and others Zoom-ing in from home.
Please check our Google Calendar for the actual date each month and possible changes and cancellations especially near holidays and in the summer. Contact the study group chair to join the email list for Zoom links and any last minute changes to meeting days/times. Click on the group title below to open the details.
Study Groups
The Braids & Bands Study Group meets the first Tuesday of each month from 10 am to 2 pm. On the 3rd Saturday of each month we meet from noon to 3pm along with the HandStitchery study group. We focus on narrow band weaving and braiding including backstrap weaving, inkle looms, tablet weaving and kumihimo. At our group meetings, we work on our current projects, have “show and tell”, help each other with problems and sometimes schedule a topic to discuss or have a challenge. Come for all or part of the meeting and pack a lunch! We welcome everyone from beginning to experienced. Questions? Chair: Janie Yates
This study group meets from noon to 3pm on the 3rd Saturday of the month (along with Braids & Bands) and focuses on all things stitched by hand: mending, darning, embroidery, hand quilting, cross stitch, paper piecing and more! All are welcome! Bring any project to work on even if it’s not a stitched project. Contact co-chairs Janie Yates or Karen Anderson with any questions and to be added to the email list.
The Knitting Study Group Meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 10 am to 2 pm. Bring any project, your lunch and stay as long as you want. Chair Mary McMahon.

The Spinning Study Group meets on the third Tuesday from 10am-2pm. Bring your work and lunch. You do not need to be a spinner to join us. Chair: Pat Maley
Weaverbird Fledglings Study Group meets the second Wednesday of each month, 10am-noon. This group is mostly for weavers “trying their wings” but any Guild member weaver or wannabe weaver is welcome to attend. Chair: Joy Thaler
The Weaving Structure Study Group meets the third Thursday of each month from 10 to noon. Each guild year we select a particular weave structure, learn the particulars of that structure and do a project. This group is open to weavers of all levels. Chair: Terri Brenner and Barb Gallagher
Studio weavers are members who work in the weaving studio on the 2nd floor of the Guild house. You may find them there any time there is a study group, class, or meetings at the Guild house. Stop by to say hello and find out what they are working on. If you are interested in weaving on a loom at the Guild for personal projects or if you need help from a more experienced weaver, please contact Janie Yates.
This new group is beginning in January of 2024, meets the 3rd Saturday from 10am to 12pm and focuses on multi-harness weaving (table or floor looms.) Each month we’ll learn a new thing, have a show and tell, and time for socializing. Bring your questions! This study group is perfect for weavers who have taken the beginning weaving classes at the guild and are looking to learn more, but any skill level is welcome! Contact Janie Yates to get on the email list.
SSSG Meets on the 4th Sunday of each month beginning February 25 2024 from 11 am to 2 pm. Bring your work, any questions and a lunch if you want.
Contact Pat Maley with questions.
