Weave a 3 dimensional fabric using waffle weave technique.

Dates: Saturday, March 7, 21 & April 11 2026, 10 am – 12 pm all days. Sales end: Feb 28. Ticket: $70. Instructor: Barb Gallagher. Materials fee: none. Skills Needed: must be able to warp your loom and thread from a draft. Class Limit: 8. Class Location: 2nd Floor.

Waffle Weave is a 3 dimensional fabric formed by threads that float in both the warp and the weft. Float lengths create the characteristic depressions. It is not a weave structure but is a treadling method. This weave is especially good for towels and baby blankets

Suitable for anyone that can warp their loom and thread from a draft. This class has 3 sessions at the guild house with the actual weaving done on your own loom.

  • 1st session is a general discussion on waffle weave and info on how to weave a sampler
  • 2nd session will be a critique of students’ samples along with Q&A. Then we help you get your project planned
  • 3rd and final session is to go over your finished project and discuss any future projects you have in mind

Supplies to Bring:

  • snack and beverage if desired

Problems registering? Contact the Education Committee at classes@weaversguildcincinnati.org.

Questions about this class? Contact the instructor, Barb Gallagher at weaving@etczone.com.

Barb Gallagher has been weaving since she stumbled upon a weaving studio in Los Angeles in the 70’s. She says she was so excited, it sent her back to school where she earned a BA in Art from Edgecliff College (now Xavier University) in Cincinnati, Ohio. She did her thesis on rug weaving, but since then she’s enjoyed weaving functional art such as towels, scarfs, shawls, and blankets. Barb has been teaching weaving for more years than she wants to admit. Barb is also the owner of Weavers Loft, a retail weaving supply shop as well as the home of her weaving studio.

If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.

Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.

Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact the Education Committee Chair at classes@weaversguildcincinnati.org for permission before registering any minor in a class.

Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
