Material fees. will vary depending on fiber selected, payable to instructor on first day of class. Skills Needed: Beginner with some weaving experience. Prerequisite: BW 101 Learn to Weave Class OR Some weaving experience OR Returning to weaving and would like a refresher. Class Location: 2nd Floor. Class Limit: 4.
During this two-day class students will have the opportunity to complete a multiple weave structure “gamp” on a floor loom. The gamp is a sample of different structures or weaving patterns and can be used for future reference when planning projects. The weave structures included will be plain weave, twill, overshot, ‘M’s and W’s’, and huck. Under the guidance of the instructor, students will wind a multi-color warp and dress and thread a loom. They will also be introduced to working with two shuttles. Students will build on their knowledge of reading and interpreting drafts and will learn more about various weave structures.
This class is for those who have taken BW 101 Learn to Weave, or for those with some weaving experience. It is also a good refresher for those who haven’t woven for a while and would like to get back in to the craft.
(PLEASE NOTE: An optional 3rd day may be offered at the discretion of the instructor to allow students more time to practice and play. This would be at an additional cost. The day, time and fee TBD during the scheduled class time. Please contact the instructor directly for more details.)
Fibers/materials for this class will be provided by the instructor. Students should be prepared to pay the $10 packet fee along with the materials fee (will vary) on the first day of class. Cash or checks only will be accepted.
Students should pack a lunch and a beverage. A refrigerator and microwave are available

Linda Rouse has been involved in the fiber arts since childhood, beginning with crochet, embroidery and sewing. Later she added weaving, punch needle and rug hooking to her fiber arts skills, learning from fellow guild members Joy Thaler, Teresa Nieberding and Cindy Sturdevant. She has exhibited her works in galleries at the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, The Cincinnati YWCA, The Clifton Cultural Arts Center, The Fitton Center for Creative Arts, and the Fairfield Community Arts Center. Linda recently returned from a trip to Sweden where she studied Swedish rag rug weaving with Marie Rolander. In addition to rag rug weaving, her current focus is on weaving hand-dyed silk scarves. Linda teaches beginning weaving classes at the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati where she has been a member for over 15 years.
If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.
Depending on the CDC guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.
Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact the Education Committee Chair at classes@weaversguildcincinnati.org for permission before registering any minor in a class.
Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
