Learn how to get a rainbow of colors using just 3 primary colors and black using acid dyes and protein fibers.

Dates: Monday, July 22, 2024, one day. Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Ticket: $70. Instructor: Lorain Pettit. Materials fee: $10 for dye, fixatives and handouts. Instructor will bring additional items to dye, available at additional cost. Skills Needed: none. Class Limit: 4 due to electric limitations in the dye room.

You can get a rainbow of colors using just 3 primary colors and black. Come get your rainbow started using acid dyes and protein fibers (wool, silk and other animal fibers) in fiber, yarn or cloth form. Adults only please, due to the nature of materials being used.

Required participant materials to bring:

  • fiber/goods for dyeing, yarn should be skeined and loosely figure-8 tied in 3 or 4 places.
  • rubber gloves
  • apron
  • dust mask (for making up dye only)
  • plastic bag for transporting your wet finished materials
  • an old towel or two
  • Your lunch and beverages
  • $10 materials fee payable to the instructor at start of class. Cash or check only accepted.

Problems registering? Contact the Education Committee at classes@weaversguildcincinnati.org.

Questions about this class? Contact the instructor, Lorain Pettit at lorain.pettit@gmail.com.

Lorain has always been someone who enjoys “playing with string”. In addition to knitting, dyeing and weaving she also spins, crochets and needle tats. She is a lifelong resident of Northern Kentucky and currently lives in Florence with her dog, cat, fish and an embarrassingly large amount of string.

If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.

Depending on the CDC guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.

Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact the Education Committee Chair at classes@weaversguildcincinnati.org for permission before registering any minor in a class.

Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
