Create vibrant fiber flowers.

Date: Fri, July 18 9am -12pm. Sales end: July 11. Ticket: $40. Instructor: Jennifer Myka. Materials fee: $25. Skills Needed: none. Class Limit: 8. Class Location: 2nd Floor. Minimum Age: Any age, but children must be able to safely handle sharp needles and scissors and must be accompanied by an adult who will assist them.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the art of needle felting – and optionally, mixed-media flower making – as you create beautiful, one-of-a-kind fiber flowers using a selection of luxurious fibers, including hand-dyed Teeswater wool and Suri alpaca locks. You’ll also have the option to incorporate fabric petals or fiber/fabric hybrids for added flair and structure, allowing for even more creative expression. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced fiber artist, you’ll enjoy bringing these tactile creations to life. You’ll leave with a minimum of two fully crafted flowers plus the tools and materials to create another at home, although you will likely complete multiple flowers during the session!

Throughout the class, I’ll guide you step-by-step in shaping petals, incorporating vibrant colors and textures, and combining fiber and fabric elements to bring your flowers to life. These fiber creations can be displayed on their own or used to embellish hats, scarves, or other projects. Fabric-backed or hybrid flowers are especially well-suited for projects like brooches, headbands, or textile art pieces that benefit from added stability or contrast.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a stunning collection of needle-felted flowers that reflect your creativity, and you’ll be equipped with the skills and materials to continue your fiber artistry at home.

Additional materials, supplies, and tools will be available for optional purchase.
