An inkle loom is a simple, lightweight, portable loom that is designed for weaving narrow warp faced bands of up to about 4″ wide. These bands are quick and fun to weave and can be used in a multitude of ways. Shoe laces, book marks, purse or bag straps, dog leashes, belts, and guitar straps are just a few things you can make with an inkle woven band.
In this class you will learn all the basics needed to get you started weaving on an inkle loom. You will learn how to read an inkle weaving pattern draft, how to make heddles, how to warp an inkle loom, how to start a weft and begin weaving, tips for good selvages, and how to finish a weft as well as some other kernels of inkle weaving wisdom. Inkle looms will be available for use, allthough students are welcome to bring their own.
