Learn techniques to incorporate long locks into your weaving.

Date: Thursday, July 17, 1pm – 4pm. Sales end: July 10. Ticket: $40. Instructor: Jennifer Myka. Materials fee: $20. Skills Needed: able to warp and weave on a rigid heddle loom. Class Limit: 10. Class Location: 1st Floor. Minimum Age: Any age, but children must be accompanied by a paid adult who will assist them.

Unlock the creative potential of hand-dyed and hand-selected long locks in this hands-on weaving workshop. Using your pre-warped rigid heddle loom (soft wool yarn recommended), you’ll learn multiple techniques to incorporate these luxurious fibers into your weaving. Beyond working with long locks, we’ll explore creative approaches like adding loops, fringe, and other textural elements to elevate your projects. Whether you’re weaving for art or function, these techniques will transform your projects into show-stopping pieces bursting with unique texture, dimension, and flair!

Together, we’ll create a sampler that highlights these techniques, providing plenty of inspiration for future creations. The image shown is an example of a scarf incorporating these methods—you’ll learn how to achieve similar effects and more—perfect for applying to your own future projects!

Class materials include a curated selection of premium long locks and a detailed handout of techniques to take home. Additional materials and supplies, such as extra locks or specialty yarns, will be available for optional purchase.

This workshop is perfect for weavers looking to expand their skills, experiment with unique, tactile embellishments, and infuse artistry into their weaving!

Supplies to Bring:
