with Jennifer Moore
Friday, April 8 & Saturday, April 9
9am to 4pm (both days)
$150 WGGC member/$175 non-member
Materials fee: $35
Class limit: 20
Experience level: Any. Not a loom weaving class – paper-based fun exercises!
Have you ever wanted to work wth these wonderful tools for virtual design, but been scared by a lack of drawing or math skills? This workshop is for you! We will take a visual and intuitive approach to working with symmetry movements, tiling patterns, fractals, and harmonious proportions including the golden proportion and the Fibonacci sequence. Through a series of fun excercises using drawing, coloring, rubber stamps, and paper cutouts you will create a tool box of skills to use in creating your own designs and go home with a new way of looking at the world.
Note: This is not a loom weaving class – it is all paper based fun exercises!
Students should bring a mask, the $35 materials fee payable to the instructor, and a lunch and beverages. A refrigerator and microwave are available to use. Questions about this workshop? Contact Sue Griebling, Program Chair, sjgriebling at gmail.com.
About the Instructor: From the first time that she sat down at a loom, Jennifer Moore was drawn to the orderly universe of colored threads and the rhythmic repetition in the process of weaving, Because of her background in piano and pipe organ, she felt an immediate affinity with this new stringed instrument whose patterns flowed from her hands in the form of color and design rather than sound. Jennifer is well known for her experience in doubleweave pick-up, with two books on this subject and numerous workshops. She invites you to explore patterns together with her in this workshop. Check out her website.
