Come and learn to use a new medium that can enhance your fabric, Paintstiks. You can create yardage or single motifs to enhance your fabric. Paintstiks look like oversized crayons and are made from pigment and linseed oil. They can transform your plain fabric into a more complex and exciting design. You will learn to create designs from simple stripes to complex patterns, working with rubbing plates, which are placed under the fabric, and with stencils.

Concepts covered will include making a basic rubbing, using multiple colors on top of a rubbing plate, being able to fill the fabric with designs to create yardage, and learning how to use masks.

Students need to bring:

• Fat quarters in dark colors.
• A small piece of lighter color fabric
• Fat quarters with small designs to print on top of (optional)
• $10 materials fee.

We will be working with 10″x10″ squares as well as the fat quarter size. You do not need to have yardage because we will be working with smaller sizes as we experiment with the “Paintstiks.”
