If you are confident using a sewing machine and can follow a straight line, you can learn Foundation Paper Piecing! In this introduction to FPP, you will learn how to use a paper template as a guide to make a quilt block. Instructor will supply patterns for you to choose from. A variety of fabrics will be available for you to use during class.

FPP results in blocks with precise points and accurate seam alignment and allows quilters to more easily piece complex designs and unusual shapes, including pictorial designs that might be difficult using traditional techniques. Once you learn the technique, the possibilities are endless!

Supplies to Bring:

• Required: Sewing machine in good working order; Thread (50 or 60 wt is best) for machine, neutral color; Pins, snips
• Bring if you have (I’ll have some to share): Rotary cutter, cutting mat (a small one is fine), Add-a-Quarter ruler or other quilting ruler (at least 12″ long), Wonder Clips
• $5 materials fee payable to the instructor at start of class. Cash or check only accepted.

If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.

Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.

This class is designed for ages 16 and above. Minors who register for the class must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact Lorain Pettit at lorain.pettit@gmail.com for permission before registering any minor in a class.

Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
