Sunday, October 9, 1pm-4pm
Instructor: Pat Maley
$40 plus $10 materials fee, payable to the instructor
Class limit: 5
Level: Beginner but some drop or wheel spinning experience helpful
Learn to spin on a support spindle. These are very small, very portable spindles that can be used while sitting. Support spindles are used for cotton and down fibers like cashmere, yak, camel, and bison. They are also used for very fine silk and wool yarns. You will learn the drafting and twisting techniques used with several types of small support spindles as well as the large Navajo type suport spindle.
Students should bring an unbreakable bowl about 2-3″ in diameter as well as any support spindles you already own. A variety of spindles will be available to use in class.
N-95 masks are required. Class will be outside, weather permitting.
Your fee will be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students.
