Weaving a Patchwork Rug

July 15 – 9am-3:30pm

Patchwork rugs are versatile and fun to weave! With one warp, you can create multiple designs. In this class, we will actually be weaving placemats or runners. You will learn how to design, plan, and set up. We will do all of that, then you will warp and thread your loom, and, finally, weave. Be sure to bring your lunch and beverages. A refrigerator and microwave are available for use.

Equipment and Materials needed:

  • 4-shaft loom with at least a 14″ weaving width
  • 8/4 cotton (carpet warp**) and either fabric strips or cotton***

**Warp: At least three (3) colors of your choice in 8/4 cotton; leftovers are fine. You will need approximately 1400 yards of 8/4. The instructor can supply and bring to class if needed; 800 yards on each 8 oz. tube for $9.90.

***Weft: Cotton/cotton blend fabric strips OR natural mop cord, approximately 2 lb. for 4 placemats needed. Strips are cut so that when twisted they are not quite as thick as a pencil, or whatever thickness you want for your mats. Natural mop cord is available from the instuctor for $8/lb.

Current Guild policies require that unvaccinated participants wear a mask anytime they are at the house. Those vaccinated against COVID-19 may go unmasked. Teachers may request all participants wear a mask.

COVID-19 policies may change according to the guidelines of the CDC and the State of Ohio.

Your fee will be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
