Beyond the Basics: Color and Weave Sampler and Project

Explore the possibilities of how color and structure can create pattern in woven cloth.

Saturdays: April 1, April 22, and May 20 10:00 – 12:00 each day

Instructor: Janie Yates

Equipment Required : You may use a floor loom at the guild house or your own minimum 4 shaft table or floor loom with at least a 15 inch weaving width.

Materials Fee: $3 Payable to instructor for handouts and $40 to the Weavers Loft for yarns for both projects.

Experience: Students must have a basic knowledge and experience with weaving. They must be able to make a warp, dress a loom and weave independently.

Class limit: 6

In this course you will complete two woven projects. The first will be a color and weave structure gamp that generates 80 different patterns. From that gamp you will choose one or two of the patterns to use in a project of your choice: towels, a table runner or scarf. We will be working with 8/2 unmercerized cotton for both projects.

This class is designed to be a self paced, instructor guided course. We will meet for three lectures over several weeks with time in between for you to complete two woven projects. You will be able to work at home on your own loom or to weave on a guild loom during open hours.

Your class fee will be refunded only if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. If a student cancels for any reason, credit card and Eventbrite processing fees are not refundable.
